Gonna have to agree with June on this one, even though it may pain me :-)
Regional weather patterns can and do go on for years. An example of this is
the lengthy drought which precipitated the mass starvation in Ethiopia
several yeqars ago.
The good news is, meteorologists who predict these long term trends are
often wrong.
