Watching world events unfold in recent weeks, I found myself wondering (not
for the first time) how many of the world's nations will survive the first
decade of the 21st century in their present borders. In the ten years since
the fall of the Berlin Wall and the subsequent bizarre reunification of
Germany, the shape of world politics has undergone a sea-change--a change
guided and motivated by international finances, seemingly aimed at the
dismantlement of ethnically-plural states in favor of ethnic and linguistic
nationalism. I'm reminded of Clemenceau's remark at Versailles: "What, must
every little language have its own nation?" The answer, courtesy of the IMF
and the NWO, is clearly "Yes."
The barbarous actions by the Indonesian armed forces in East Timor, horrible
as they are, are in part an attempt to stem the tide of ethnic division being
forced on Indonesia by the IMF. Setting aside the elements of racism,
religious hatred, and sheer greed in the soldiers' actions, the brutal
repression of the internationally-sanctioned East Timorese drive for
independence is aimed at preventing the inevitable breakup of the Indonesian
empire. When the international "peacekeeping" force, presumably led by
Australia, finally moves in and establishes East Timor as an independent
entity, it will mark the beginning of the end of Indonesia, just as the
economic ukases of the IMF and World Bank are designed to force control of the
archipelago's vast resources away from Indonesia's oligarchs and turn it over
to various transnational interests.
Who will be next? India, the "world's largest democracy," with its incredibly
diverse population rapidly approaching 1,000,000,000? China, ripe for the
plucking, with the minorities on its fringes growing increasingly restless and
its political leadership growing increasingly corrupt? Perhaps Canada? Or how
about South Africa, uneasily entering the post-Mandela era? Or even (say it
softly) the greatest prize of all, the United States?
One thing is clear: parsing the world so finely along ethnic lines benefits no
one--except international capital. The people of the world are being taught to
worship a new golden calf, the Market. And please note: it's not the "Free
Market" any longer, just as the Cold War labels "Free World" and "Captive
Nations" have been set aside. It's simply "the Market," and we no longer refer
to "free" nations--they're now "market democracies," whatever *that* means.
Freedom, clearly, does not refer to political freedom; nor does it include any
elements of economic and social justice. Freedom means, pure and simple, the
right of the world's elite to make a profit. To guarantee that right, the
world's peoples are being dealt out like a deck of cards into its separate
suits; and carefully-guarded borders will ensure that the deck will never
again be shuffled unless the New World Order does the shuffling.
