Good riddance. The nuclear family is a very recent and not very wide
spread abberation. Most people on earth live in extended families of at
least three generations. Most people have always lived in extended
families since before we came down from the trees. That's how I grew up.
That's how my cousins next door grew up. That's how most of my friends on
the block grew up. It's better. The nuclear family fragments and atomizes
society into easily managable consumer units. It fosters mental illness,
particularly neurosis, because it limits the child's role models to two
and because it discourages community. We're genetically programmed,
hardwired as it were, to live in communities. When artificial social
constructs break down community, the mental health of the individual and
of society suffers. Our rulers know this. That's why they want us to be as
atomized and isolated as possible. That ay we are weak, disoriented and
easy to manipulate. If we are a cloud of dust we are nothing. If we are a
rock we have strength.
