He recalls these facts. In the thirties, rumors were heavily circulated in Virginia and Williamsburg in particular which Mr Henderson feels is the rightful capital of Virginia. that the Artifacts being mentioned were in fact transported to Williamsburg from Bacon to Jefferson et.al. A Reverand Goodwin ,the then pastor of this church met John D. Rocherfeller, who decided, ??? to restore the main streets of colonial Williamsburg this included 4 streets and the site of the church. An english soldier? supposedly found in the Oxford Library the original layout of the town. This article is called the Bodleian copper plate. Accordingly, following the layout of this plate.The archelogical trenches were dug three feet deep and revealed every foundation just as the plate described. Rockerfeller and friends apparently did restoration work on the church only (pro bono). The rest of the work was funded by money given by Rockerfeller and Co. According to Mr. Henderson when they decided to restore the church, He thinks they decided to relocate those who were not originally buried there in the 1600 and 1700"s, he is not sure about this. Apparently, there was so much scandal and resentment about Rockerfellar & Co. . Supposedly, He asked The Rev. Goodwin to not mention that his money was behind the restoration. When folks found out they were furious. Also, around this time there was a frenzy created that in the removal some hidden treasure(s) might be or were in fact being secretly removed or relocated . This particular time was when He ffeels if anything was removed or repositioned or installed it would have been done then.
