I would give that credit to his mom. It doesn't take a village to raise a
child. It takes a mom. Or a LOVING father. I would die for my children, and
they know it. They're good kids, and I think it's because they know how much
they are loved. Maybe the Cuban dissidents are good mom's. I think that they
have suffered and try to make their children not afraid, and to protect
them.

And I think Marisleysis deserves a big round of applause, despite the
terrible things that are being said about her. She took a child who had just
watched his mom die, and then floated in shark-infested waters for, if I
remember correctly, 3 days, and made him feel safe all over again. That is
quite an accomplishment and quite a daunting task. I've been in a situation
with one of my children suffering a tragic event in their life, and it is
something that only love can heal, a child having been through such a
terrible experience.

And to Bill who wrote:

I'm glad you're pleased at the opportunity to hear the viewpoints of
Christians. I misjudged you. I didn't know you were quite so open to
opposing opinions. I apologise.

All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men and women to do
nothing.

But let's take a look at the product of Cuba, and I'm not talking about
sugar
or cigars. Castro or not, they seem to be raising some pretty good kids.
Elian is from a broken home, but the kid has withstood some pretty nasty
situations, and he is still pretty much what most of us would like our
children to be (except for that jumping on the furniture thing). He is not
fat, snotty, depressed or fixated. Somebody in Cuba is doing things right.
