The key word in both phrases is SOME. One cannot make blanket comments about
a "gay community" anymore than one can make blanket comments about a "straight
community"...

Well, one can reasonably argue that no social change would have occured without
radicals getting in one's face. Women would have never gotten the right to vote,
blacks wouldn't have gained civil rights, without 'in-your-face' tactics...
The only reason SOME gays utilize 'in-your-face' tactics is solely due to the
fact that 'asking nicely' for their civil rights hasn't worked up till now...
