Nope, wasn't the same lake. The one in *Illuminatus!* was the supposed
"Lake Totenkopf," near Ingolstadt, Bavaria, which was supposed to be a
bottomless lake connecting to the secret subterranean sea known only to the
Illuminati and Hagbard Celine. Needless to say, there ain't any such lake
in Bavaria, although Ingolstadt is perfectly real.
