Well, Alex Constantine has really pointed out a serious issue with this one.
The Reconstructionists are bad enough, considering their influence on such
"conservative" stalwarts as ex-Veep Dan and Marilyn Quayle, not to mention
Governor Death, G.W. Bush himself. But adding them to the poisonous mix of
reactionary Christian organizations in Colorado Springs scares the living
bejesus out of me. Consider this: Colorado Springs is home not only to the
U.S. Air Force Academy, but to the U.S. Space Command...which is tasked with
protecting the nation's electronic infrastructure. The U.S. military elites
have already shown themselves highly susceptible to influence by right-wing
Christians, including the Reconstructionists, the Promise Keepers (who
provide training for Army Sergeants Major), and assorted Pentecostal groups.
[Go back in the CTRL archives and check out the history of the Pentecostal
movement; it has roots in British Israelism and is first cousin to Christian
Identity. It also appears to have been a creation of British Intelligence.]
Now: take a deep breath, and imagine what it would be like to have officers
who believe in executing adulterers, witches, gays, and lesbians, as well as
other "undesirables," in charge of security for the Internet...
