The only thing anyone on this list (presuming no one here ever personally met Aleister
Crowley) can do is go
by Crowley's own writings, and to some extent the writings of others who DID know him,
and to a lesser extent
on the writings of those who did not personally know him but who have done extensive
research on him.
Crowley never claimed to be a satanist, and in his writings on his philosophies and
beliefs, described
something that was definitely not satanism. Those who knew him (even his enemies)
never claimed he was a
satanist, and not one credible volume written about him has ever claimed Crowley was a
satanist.
Satanism is the flip side of Christianity, and Crowley had contempt for both.
If any religion can be said to have been developed by Crowley, the Dianic form of
Wicca is the closest thing
(although they like to claim a much longer lineage).
