In the U.S., both Johnnie and Willie (with an "ie") are unisex names,
while Johnny and Willy (with a "y") are masculine.
There is one person on this list, who would know Nessie's gender for
sure, and that is our own Kris Millegan...... Kris and Nessie have both
spoken of meeting in person at the CIA-DRUGS conference in Eugene last
year.
And how do you know Nessie was named after the lake? It could be a
diminutive of his given name (possibly Nicholas?) or surname. I went to
high school with several students whose last name was Ness.
