She told him that it was necessary for a woman to teach a man, and a man to teach a woman when transferring the powers. She went to him and told him that she had looked over all the men in their parish (it appears she attended church every Sunday), and that he was the most "good." For that reason she wished to teach him her spells and incantations. When he told her that he could never participate in such things because he was a Christian minister and was forbidden to do such things, she left in tears. Apparently she had never felt the least adversarial to the Christian God. Since I consider God omnipotent, I've occasionally wondered about that myself.
