We know how you folks like to burn things "Confederate"! Homes, mostly, crops in fields, schools, churches, hospitals and every mile of railroad track existing at the time as well as all civilian food reserves.  Yes, I believe this was the most successful scorched earth policy ever.  These things are considered war crimes by civilized people.
