Perhaps, but more to the point we have become a nation where children have not been taught ethics and morals, and who believe that their personal desires are the only thing of importance. They have not been told 'no' when they demanded something, and so have not learned to tolerate even the slightest amount of frustration. These children do not hesitate to hurt anyone who causes them discomfort. I can understand having a zero-tolerance policy in schools for carrying weapons, as long as it applies to REAL weapons and not something like a nail clipper. This boy KNEW that what he was bringing to the school dance was clearly a weapon -- the item is designed for no other use but as a weapon -- and chose to ignore or flaunt the policy. He should not be surprised at the consequences.
