One of the highlights of my husband's time in Japan (about 1949 or 1950) was actually meeting General Douglas MacArthur in a park where he was walking his dog (from my husband's description, possibly a Lab). When this thing on Walker started, I turned to him, grinning, and asked: "Oh and by the way, honey, when you saw MacArthur in the park walking his dog, did the general discuss his plans and operations with you?" As he recalls the general returned his salute. He also remembers parading for MacArthur one time. I think the general said something to the effect of "Good job, men." The possibility that Walker knew anything about anything is beyond remote.
