Good point. Christians ( whose first allegiance is to Christ) are Christians first and Americans second. Does that make them disloyal Americans?

Perhaps not, but in what case should we consider that?  Had the lady said, "We are Americans, but we are Jews," I would not have been so shocked.  To me she was saying that she was ready to offer her life to Israel, not that she was ready to offer her life for her faith.  Since there is no country that allows only Christians (perhaps the Vatican, but I'm not sure even there), I can't find an equal contest.  Our Conscientious Objectors from World War II (and later wars and conflicts as well) said that they were Christians and could not take up arms, but the one I knew personally was a Jew.  He was well on his way to becoming a concert pianist when  World War II broke out, but after spending the war on a hospital ship, he opted not to play the piano at all any more.  He was a very nice and somewhat intellectual young man.  He opened a restaurant, married and had a baby.  I lost track of him after that, but why he left his music none of us knew (either his family or friends).  He did not tell us, and one did not ask our returning veterans of any ilk too many questions.   If Christians feel that they would want to emigrate to another country for reasons of  faith, I would want to hear their argument.   I know they used the faith of Christianity as an excuse to wipe out indigenous peoples all over the world and to reduce the few remnants to poverty, but I've never been convinced that God or Christ would have approved.  Bad behavior in the name of one's faith has been rampant throughout history.  Almost all faiths have been guilty.    Prudy
