Indian Soldiers Find Bomb-Making Equipment in Kashmir School

Srinagar, India, Nov. 29 (Bloomberg) -- Indian troops found
bomb-
making equipment at a school in the state of Jammu and Kashmir,
the Associated Press said, citing police.
The soldiers, acting on a tip, raided the Muslim Girls Public School
in Srinagar and found four bombs and sacks full of landmines, AP
cited police as saying. The bomb-making laboratory wasn't being
used at the time, they said. School officials are being questioned
about the discovery.
``Bombs were being manufactured in the school and nobody knew,''
AP cited Superintendent R.J. Swain of the Srinagar police, as
saying. ``The explosive material we have found is of very high grade
and devices were being smartly concealed inside fire extinguishers.''
More than a dozen groups have been fighting since 1989 for Jammu
and Kashmir's independence from India or its incorporation into
neighboring Pakistan. Pakistan denies Indian allegations it supports
the rebels and allows them to cross into the state from Pakistan-
controlled territory. Jammu and Kashmir is India's only Muslim-
dominated state.

Muslim extremism is dangerous, Kabbani cautioned, and
the media needs to learn the difference between Islam
and extremism. "What I am seeing, unfortunately, are
those that are advising the media, or advising the
government are not the moderate Muslims," Kabbani said.

extremists themselves."
