Looking up a different forum related to this issue, someone has suggested
using SSL_get_shutdown before calling SSL_shutdown. I am not sure though if
that would be the right workaround for my case.
I guess it could work as a work-around if it would tell us to not attempt the
shutdown. Can't you give it a try and tell us how it works?
