There is occasional activity in https://git.ffmpeg.org/gitweb/rtmpdump.git, but as you say, the last commit is over a year ago. However, there is little to change as the protocol isn't changing much.
If we are to keep RTMP in curl, we need to get in there and improve this. And I don't mean that I will do it all myself on my copious spare time.
I can appreciate that. RTMP is one of the protocols that are the trickiest to set up even in our internal testing environment, and we *are* building a product for monitoring it.
