Only once on munmap? If it is updated at an unpredictable time it makes something like utime(2) senseless (since it is changed anyway). Always use msync is a performance issue for e.g. "cp -p ..." (so I think cp(1) doesn't use mmap for copying). If the current behaviour is 4.4BSD derived it is ok, but if it's "only" NetBSD specific it is maybe not optimal. Carsten
