Either cpphs or hscolour fails with the case-sensitivity issue. The solution Malcolm used was to set a checkpoint, darcs optimise to it, then recommend Windows users pass --partial. This way darcs skips the historical files with case issues. Of course, running a project in --partial has its own set of disadvantages.
