BTW, if you do have a parallel-port zip drive, Knoppix can read/write  
it just fine.  To do so:

1) attach the zip drive with a disk inserted via the parallel port
2) boot Knoppix
3) open a root terminal
4) type 'modprobe imm'

The zip disk should appear as /dev/sda4.  Have a look in dmesg to see  
exactly what.  If 'modprobe imm' doesn't work, then you may have an  
older zip drive.  In that case, try 'modprobe ppa'
