What do you mean they never made progress? I had my powerbook running the Live Ubuntu with the exception of wireless. I'd used fwcutter stuff and the apple firmware to make my own driver and it "kinda" worked at least for 15 minutes.. totally unreliable, but everything else worked wonderfully. The same goes for the Mac Mini at my desk here. It's hardwired, so I didn't need to mess with the wireless.
It's been a while since I've messed with Knoppix, but I would assume they are at the same level as Ubuntu. I'll download the latest PPC Knoppix now and let you know how it works. As far as the Intel Macs go, I think there's still some work to be done.. same as the Windows on Mac.. they don't have the video drivers right yet either..
