They = Knoppix.  Ubuntu worked fine except for wireless and read/ 
write access to the drive.  But the Ubuntu LiveCD is not the Swiss  
Army knife that Knoppix is, e.g. no PDI.

Nope.  Not even close the last time I checked (a few months ago).   
The one that got closest was the SystemRescueCD for PPC.
