Excellent recommendations.

The only thing I'd add is if you know of an E-List, BBS, or Web site dedicated 
to the game you want to play, the audiences there tend to have a higher 
concentration of dedicated players than general-purpose sites.

That having been said, more than 1/3 of my PBEM games have come from 
general-purpose sites, so this is an addendum comment, not a replacement one.
