he article was in the daily express dated 1/11/00 (Wednesday) we tried doing
a ring around asking what type of service they ran an they didn't know
wether they offered it just for internet banking or for everything
(we asked two breanches and one said that they only allowed internet banking
and the other seemed to think that you could do anything)

AN already offer free coffee (at least at weekends and here in Cardiff).
They want to encourage people to think of them as approachable and they are
really pushing their new net accounts (cheaper for them so bigger profits).
So net as well makes sense to me. Any ref for the article?
