Subject: RE: [cc] interesting article about MicrosoftDon't worry about it Lee, like I said everyone has an opinion, it's when it is based on fiction and not fact that I question it :-)Larry Ellison is only one person in Oracle, they have some great software and really good services, Microsoft has some great software and services, some of the Linux companies stand their ground also, what ever floats you boat.People on this list need to make a decision that is right for them and their business, make it based on fact not fiction, if you really think Microsoft has secretly coded apps to spy and send everything back to big brother then you need help now. What would be the benefit of Microsoft seeing how you built your PC - come on get real here....... and before any shouts cookies just about every web site uses them, if you don't want them disable it. I have yet to see any Linux OS certified with C2 security - please let me know if this is incorrect by the wayhey if you want to have a PC without MS software then run format and start again install Linux and star office and enjoy - nobody is stopping you but yourself. I cold go on and on and on and on etc but this has always been an emotional subject with peopleAlthough I work for the company I am not brainwashed, I really see the benefit of bringing computing to the millions of people around the world in a format the average lay person is comfortable with, your average Joe does not stand a chance with some other OS.any comments in this email are mine only and are not to be associated with Microsoft in any wayScott Carrie MCSE CNE/CNAon behalf of www.quarks.co.uk not Microsoft :-)-----Original Message-----

Subject: RE: [cc] interesting article about microsoft> I can't even buy a gateway computer without
> a microsoft operating system.I'm not sure if MS still use the infamous "per processor" licensing agreements with OEMs, but if this is still the case then it's not in Gateway's economic interests to sell PCs without MS Operating systems, as they still have to pay for one even if they don't install it. In fact, in the early nineties, Dell tried swallowing this cost and pre-installing OS/2 on 10% of their boxes. Microsoft raised the price Dell were paying for DOS/Windows until they stopped doing it. (Warning - I'm pulling these details out from memory and there may be some variance with what actually happened. :) )
