A 20-year-old Russian hacker has been arrested after allegedly
breaking into the computer network of a New York bank and extorting
money in exchange for not releasing sensitive customer information,
Moscow police said Wednesday.

On Jan. 15, police detained the man in Surgut, said Olga Dumalkina, a
Moscow police spokeswoman. Police said a bank in New York state paid
him $10,000 to a bank in Surgut, but estimated he caused $250,000 in
damages. The suspect faces up to 17 years in jail.
