Gun Control Haiku
by Daniel Schmutter
Haiku, the Japanese poetry form employing three lines of (usually) 5, 7, and
5 syllables, has, unfortunately, been neglected as a method for the
expression of Second Amendment values. What follows is, I hope, but the
first step in opening up this art form for celebrating our great heritage of
the right to keep and bear arms.
Rosie O'Donnell.
Why does anyone need guns?
She feels safe enough.
Lexington, Concord.
They tried to disarm. Result?
Second Amendment.
Registering guns.
All you criminals line up.
What do you mean, no?
U.S. burglars fear.
Stay away from homes at night.
Yikes, owner with gun!
British burglars safe.
Home defender jailed for life!
Poor Tony Martin!
Cheap guns must be banned?
Don't poor people need defense?
Are gun bans racist?
Jews don't own guns, right?
"Never again," we all say.
Nu? Warsaw Ghetto?
Million Mom March wasn't.
These things they call "Smart Guns" aren't.
Why not use English?
Glock polymer guns
Won't thwart metal detectors.
Stop it already.
Brilliant sleight of hand
Closing the "gun show loophole."
Except there is none.
Who wants to be a
Million Mom? So, is that your
Final answer? D'oh!
Those "assault weapons."
Boy they sure do look scary.
Any deaths from them?
Concealed carry laws.
It's the criminals, dummy.
They're the ones afraid.
They want to find crooks.
Ballistic fingerprinting.
Good guys only, folks.
Gun maker lawsuits.
What did they do wrong, again?
Shameless grandstanding.
Smith and Wesson caved.
Lots of good it sure did them.
Naught but twelve suits now!
Britain is your gauge?
Lots of guns means lots of deaths?
What of Switzerland?
