Go Clip less, but make sure you get a decent pair of shoes. The long way around * You'll save some money and a few grams on the clipped pedals, and you'll be way retro, us old guys do appreciate that:) * With Clipped pedals you can use running shoes, although uncomfortable, just tighten up the straps and go. With Clip less pedals you'll need cycling shoes. But be careful cheap, shoes stretch and you will loose pedaling efficiency. * Setting up clip less pedals is easier. Clipped pedals do not have float. Float allows the foot to move left to right in the pedal to prevent knee problems from cleat alignment. Most clip less now have float. * Look is the original, but shimano-spd and speedplay have a gained a good share of the market. Time has been around as long as look and is the original pedal with float (my wife still prefers TIME pedals) Also, Make sure the shoes you buy are drilled for the style cleats you will be using, ie 3 bolt look. Hope that helps! > Subject: [COWs] Re: toe clips--clipless??----wondering newby > Date: Mon, 23 Feb 2009 08:26:45 -0500 > From: [email protected] > To: [email protected] > > > "newby" = swim boy. > > Bert: get the clipless out of the gate.
