Jon, sounds like you were off to an amazing start. At 48:30 for 2.4 miles you
must have been one of the first out of the water too-incredible. Hope you heal
quickly.

Congrats on the great finish Kinnie, that is an incredible time for a first
ironman!!!...I blew my calf at mile 3, no warning at all before it just locked
up, ill be out for a while, can't reallly walk today. I had a great
swim(48:30) and setup shows me as the #2 biker of the day which was awesome. I
agree with the nasty headwind for the last 40, it was brutal, i went from avg
25-27 to 18-21 and felt like I was working much harder just to hold that. I
was running down the big hill and my calf grabbedand took me to the ground. I
tried to work it out for 45 minutes with stretching and rubbing by a couple of
physical therapists that were on the course but then a doc said that he figured
i had pulled it and it wasn't just a cramp. I think i was in 7th or 8th
overall when it happened. The med tent said if I hadn't stopped I would've
torn it completely from the bone. There is always next year though! Congrats
to you again! Whats your plan for next year?

Thanks to all the well wishers! I had a great race experience! I
finished in 12 hrs and 41 mins. The last 40 miles of the bike were into a good
head wind and that took quite a bit out of me. Thusly, my run did not go as
well as I would have liked. But all and all I'm very excited to have
participated and completed the event. Many thanks again to Tim and Bert for
the many miles you put in with me. I'm not sure what I would have done without
your being there on those long rides. kp P. S. That left over granola has
been offered to me! So keep your hands off!
