Thank you Ronnie.

So will spinning help for now--until spring hits? Should I do any weight
training?

Welcome to the group! This is where ride times get posted, especially during
winter.

Regarding your upcoming double century, be prepared for a long time in the
saddle, even with the sag stops. Every year I do the MS Bike tour double
century in New Bern. I get ready for that ride by just logging in miles,
usually 50 – 70 miles solo. Others do a local CF ride that is 100 miles. We
have the Whirligig ride in the fall – metric century. A new ride a group of us
are trying this year is the Blood, Sweat & Gears ride in Boone – 100 miles in
the mountains.

When spring hits there are a couple of groups that are out on the roads; one is
slower, the other faster. The faster group generally rolls around 20mph while
slower between 15 – 17 or so.

Subject: [COWs] New Member introduction- Wilson Rides

Hi COWs,

Thanks Don for linking me to Cynthia, and thanks Cynthia for adding me to the
group. My husband and I are really excited about riding with other local
cycling enthusiasts. We both love to ride but our schedule rarely allows us to
ride together because we have two young boys.

Don mentioned that you would be a great group to contact in Wilson for cycling.
My plans are to complete my first 2-day 100 mile ride this June to the Sand
Hills in the American Diabetes Association Tour de Cure. Would any of you be
interested in joining me or helping me train. I've started a team with the ADA
"Team Novo Nordisk". Yes this is a corporate team- but you don't have to be
employed by Novo Nordisk to participate. Last year they provided breathable
t-shirts and this year I'm trying to get them to provide Jerseys, shorts, and
helmets.

Currently I ride about 15-17mph 10-15 miles at a time.
Right now I ride alone and don't want to get too far away from home base with
out a team.

What are your thoughts?
