All, Good job on following up with this. Do you know whether or not the police keeps a record of this buzzing by this driver and his license? If not they should. If this buzzer(buzzard might be more fitting)continues buzzing, these events should go on the driver's record/history and if others report similar incidences, there might be charges that could apply. I'm thankful that no one was hurt in the incidence.
In a similar incident in Abigton, VA, a car load of college students buzzed a biker and actually hit his bike leaving bright green paint from his bike on the vehicle they were driving. Fortunately, the biker wobbled but didn't crash and wasn't injured. Angry, the biker trailed after them. He figured they were probably students so he cycled around campus and found the car (with the bright green paint from his bike). He took pictures and called the police. A trooper arrived shortly and charged the vehicle's driver with hit and run with property damage. Note: The above incident was taken from the League of American Bicyclists. Other good news from the League is that some states have signed bills into law that enhances the penalty for drivers convicted of careless or inattentive driving who cause serious injury to cyclists, pedestrians and other vulnerable road users. Also some states are incorporating bicycling education into their classrooms and some states are including in driver's ed training on sharing the road with bicyclists and pedestrians. And Illinois Governor Pat Quinn on July 5 signed new legislation which establishes new penalties for motorists who drive dangerously or unnecessarily close to bicyclists -- drivers in violation of this law could be sentenced to a year in prison and fined $2,500. Illinois will also create "Share the Road license plates. Money from the plates will go to bicycle education campaigns. Now that's a law that is needed in North Carolina. As bikers, we need to let our politicians and DOT officials know our concerns. The door that squeaks loudest gets the oil. As Tom walks into the store the Buzzer goes to the back of the store into a little room like a humidor or something. SO, Tom opens the door, introduces himself, asks if he can speak to him for a minute. Tom told him that his wife was one of the riders that he almost made pee in their pants and would he like that to happen to his wife? He said we don't belong on the road and that he just blew his horn. Tom told him that no, he laid on his horn and that we have just as much right to the road as he does, and that he hopes his bitterness doesn't cause an accident. He said you do know you could cause an accident right? The Buzzer said yes, and Tom replied that he hopes that he never causes someone to get hurt and left. We were curious as to where his wife went so we went out on 58 and came back around to the tobacco shop, and there he was, behind the sign, on his cell, calling his wife?! Guess he'll be on the couch tonight!
