Thanks, Steve.  My observation of Highway 58 is that it should be pretty bike friendly.  The shoulders are wide and traffic should be light on Saturday morning.

From personal experience, I know that Hwy 91 from Walstonburg to Snow Hill is much friendlier than Hwy 58 is. Perhaps Alt 264 to Saratoga and then on to Walstonburg and 91 down to Snow Hill. Even more bike friendly would be Bar Tee Bridge Rd/Mercer Rd which is closer to Stansonburg into Walstonburg. Would add some mileage but better suited for the bike. Not sure about Tyson Farm Rd out of Saratoga.
I've never been biking south of Snow Hill so can't help you there.
