NE winds today 15 to 20. Decided better than to try and ride with it 23 miles to Emerald Isle and have to ride all the way back into the wind. Instead, rode over AB bridge and rode back and forth to Fort Macon in an 8 mile loop. With the wind in my face, it was essentially like doing a 4 mile hill with a slight reprieve on the way back. Did it four times. Headed home after the fourth loop. Wind was blowing so hard going back up the bridge I barely made it. Looked at speed and was only going 8 to 12 mph up the bridge. On the way down, without peddling, only hit 15 mph there was so much wind. Total ride was 36 miles with a 17.8 mph avg.
Really feel for those teams fishing The Big Rock today. Small craft advisory, gale force warning, and 6 to 12' seas. Ouch.
