One rider left off the list was the Kaiser. As promised, here is the Garmin report that shows the route; it includes my ride from the house to DD and back to the house after.
Very nice route with a tough wind on the return from Tarboro. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/217449468 From: Jeff Glover Sent: Saturday, September 01, 2012 3:07 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [COWs] Saturday Ride A very strong herd formed up at DD for the 7:00 rollout to try Jims 60 mile Tarboro route. I must admit that I can’t recall all the riders on todays ride. My apologies. Please add those I have failed to recall (please go easy on me). The rider list I can recall is Jim, Doc, Chad, DC, Turbo Dan, Wally, Bob, KP, Nick, and LR. The group headed out under partly cloudy skies, no wind and cool temps for Tarboro. Out Nash St on to Lake Wilson and in to Elm City. Right on Main St and through town, over 301, out Bridgersville Rd. At some point long here we lose Nick. Something about a Carolina football game with a kickoff at noon. Now “Nick-less” the herd rolls on Bridgersville, left on 42 to the first stop at the “triangle gas station”. After a short pause to refuel the herd rolled on out 111 joining up with 122. At this point my recollection my be a bit off (jump in Jim to straighten things out). Left on McNair Rd, over 64 and right back on Howard Ave and the third stop to fuel up again at the corner of Western Ave. After the stop the herd rolled on to Western Blvd turning on to Wilson St for the return leg of the ride. Wilson St becomes McKendree Church Rd which becomes Jenkins Farm Rd. Turbo Dan and DC decide to roll on at a pace that is slightly faster. The reaming herd continued on Jenkins Farm Rd. which becomes Davistown-Mercer Rd (at this point we are back on the Pinetops route in reverse). Davistown-Mercer Rd. becomes East Langley. Another pause for a few minutes here, the heat was up. Moving on the group moved into Elm City. Turning on to Lake Wilson, the herd rolls to the first hill where Jim has a minor mechanical. He gets things squared away a takes off on the second hill like a man on a mission. Others closer to the front will have to report on the podium. Up to to Nash and back to DD. 60 miles at a 20 avg. a very strong tempo ride throughout. “Recovery ride” tomorrow. Be prepared. Labor Day no-drop Doughnut ride Monday. Time?
