Did you ever get an answer to this?

I have a similiar problem:

The following command gives me a blank screen and then XWin.exe etc
goes way:

# startx -- :0 -clipboard -nolock&

I see this on the terminal:

#
xinit: XFree86_VT property unexpectedly has 0 items instead of 1
/etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc: line 53: xclock: command not found/etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc
: line 52: twm: command not found

xinit: connection to X server lost

waiting for X server to shut down

[1]+ Done startx -- :0 -clipboard -nolock

I expected to get 3 xterms.

(I know abouct the xclock and twm errors -- I have not and don't want
to install these programs).

Any help in debugging this would be appreciated.

Thanks.
