When you run an application locally, the desktop's XSETTINGS manager (e.g. gnome-settings-daemon) handles GTK+ theming based on your desktop preferences. When you're running a program individually (e.g. remotely, or on Cygwin in multiwindow mode), you need to either do the following from the remote machine: $ eval `dbus-launch --sh-syntax` $ gnome-settings-daemon & $ eclipse & otherwise, you need to define your preferences in $HOME/.gtkrc-2.0 and $HOME/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini of the remote machine, as described here: https://developer.gnome.org/gtk2/stable/GtkSettings.html https://developer.gnome.org/gtk3/stable/GtkSettings.html > But, even though I have been trying to download it for almost a week, it > seems there is some problem with the internet setup, and it always stops > when it reaches libraries/packages starting with "z" on. > > Following is what I do: > - setup-x86_64.exe -K http://cygwinports.org/ports.gpg (from an > administrator windows command prompt) > - I select install from the internet > - select "use Internet Explorer Proxy Server Settings" Hmm, have you tried this with Direct Connection? > - add "http://downloads.sourceforge.net/cygwin-ports" Remove this address; it is currently defunct. > - add " ftp://ftp.cygwinports.org/pub/cygwinports" > - select another mirror close to me (UK) (in total I have 3 sites selected) > - In the "select packages page", I select install to everything Installing everything is NOT recommended. Install what you need instead, and allow setup to install all dependencies. > After a long time, downloading various packages, when it arrives to > packages starting with "z" (i.e. zmanimcli ) the setup stops with > "Download incomplete.
