To verify if this is the problem, please check the output of mount if an entry for /tmp exists and if this entry (or the entry for /) has a marking (binmode) or (textmode). If it's marked textmode, please run mount -buf "$(cygpath -m /tmp)" "/tmp" and check if XWin still segfaults.
