Hi Ken, yes, you are right. It seems I copied by mistake the false list of files (i.e. the new ones). One should use the package versions from the mentioned setup.ini (http://cygwin.com/ml/cygwin/2012-06/msg00057/setup.bz2) to get the emacs and gvim running normally on XP again.
