Many thanks to Patrick Teller, Catherine Neykov, Maurice Linker and Peter
Hubscher for responding to my email and for writing such kind comments. It is
true that I have invested long years of my life in this work and that I have
put a lot of myself into it, which I hope must be felt in the writing. If the
book could be translated and thus reach a much larger audience, I would be
really happy.
Yours,
Florence Heymann

Dear all, The book of Florence Heyman allowed me to make huge progresses in the
understanding of the story of my family. Without it I would never have found
my grandmother's roots. This book deserves to be translated in English. It is a
pity that this has not been done aulready, it could help many persons to
understand where the come from. Thanks a lot for all, Florence. It is nice to
hear from you again. I dont give up !

for myself, whose family lived in czernowitz before ww2 and never told anything
after the war ( you know the parents wanted to protect us from the echo of the
shoah) i can testify that the only knowledge about my family's past was the
book of florence heymann and the stories of appelfeld; thanks to them i feel
less "a tree without roots", and i thank them both (unfortunately appelfeld
died) for the contribution

I hate doing my own publicity, but I see every day with the posts that are
written on the Cz-list, that it is really a pity that my work, Le Crépuscule
des Lieux, Paris, Stock, published in 2003, in French, has never been
translated (at the except for a partial translation into Ukrainian) and
especially in English, and therefore is not really known .
The book, which describes the entire history of the Jews of Czernowitz from the
origins to the 20th century, based on both oral and written records, is an
abridged version of my 2001 PhD (which numbered over 1000 pages, and I see that
he often answers the questions that are asked on the Cz-list.
If anyone has any idea for an editor to take charge of the translation, your
help would be welcome.
