Thank you, Edgar, for these snapshots of history. I appreciate all these looks
into our ancestors' past. Sadly, with so many of these examples it often seems
many things haven't changed. Why is it that victims often continue to be
victimized, and suffer more than the perpetrator's of their criminal acts?
Sometimes one just can't explain life . . .

the Bukovinian Jews. This is not a theoretical question, but a matter of ba=
re survival in the post-war period characterized by hunger, cold and housin=
