I don’t know if this is the same Hugo Segal, but I tripped over this using
unconventional keywords…

Dear all,
I'd like to introduce myself to the members of the Czernowitz group.

My name is Sam Lapciuc.
I currently live in Baltimore, MD, although I am originally from Miami Beach,
FL.

My family doesn't have a known ancestral connection to Czernowitz or Bukovina
per se, but that is where a good part of my family's Holocaust saga began,
being that in 1940, as the Soviets took over Bessarabia, my great grandfather
Shmarya (Samuel) Lipceac (Lipchak),
his wife Perla (neé Kleiman),
my grandfather Israel (known in Yiddish as Sunye),
and my great grandfather's brothers, Shneer married to Rozalia, with his
daughters Tzilia and Liuba,
and Leova, married to Sofica
and their father Avraham (he was also known as Moshe), from Balti (Beltsy)
Bessarabia to Czernowitz, thinking that to be the safer alternative to being
deported to the Russian interior as happened to their sister Charna (Chaca)
Leiderman (neé Lipchak) and her husband David.

In 1941, along with the Nazi takeover, they moved to the ghetto in Czernowitz.

As an aside, I may have also found records that my great great great uncle
Berish Fraiman (born in Kamenetz Podolskyy, later moved to Khotyn, Bessarabia
may have also been in the Czernowitz ghetto with his wife Etil (neé Blanc) who
I believe was born in Khotyn.

Here's an intro, and I'll include a more detailed message in my next email.
