A BBC journalist goes on his first foreign reporting trip behind the Iron Curtain. He wants to get a feeling for what the people think of the system, so he approaches a man standing in the town square. "Tell me", he says, "what do you think of the leader of your country?" "Not here," says the man, looking round furtively, "you never know who is listening." And he leads the journalist to his car. They get in and the journalist repeats his question. "Not here," says the man, "People might see me talking to you." So he drives off into the country. After driving for half an hour the man stops the car on a deserted road in the middle of wide open country. There's no-one else for miles. Again the journalist asks his question, "What to you think of your leader?" The man leans forward and, very quietly, says, "I quite like him."
