Well, debugging this isn't easy for me as i don't know much about
encodings, i couldn't debug for a long time because i started to use
coded forms just recently and i don't know enough about the inner
workings of dabo to know what/where to look for.

The ability to set a charset for the backend was added in rev 3106.
After this change i did some testing and confirmed it working.

After this the new dabo stable version got released and changes for scan
methods, editcontrols and iterators got commited.

I suspect that this was the time where the encoding stopped working.
I already tried to go back to find out which change is to blame, but
didn't find a working revision any more.
