I have an android and have tried a lot of apps. Some of them work well
and some of them actually disable phone functions. None of them are
very robust. I have serious trouble texting on any phone I have used.
The keyboard on my android is actually a dot and a dash and I text in
morse code. Sounds like I am some kind of a nut, but I can text 5 times
faster with no mistakes.

Even with a docking station, I couldn't imagine the applications would
be robust enough to do serious work.

On the other hand if everything is on the web, a docked smartphone is an
option. I had to prepare a financial report for a meeting the other
day. The account is at Chase. Their online banking was down for three
days. http://abcnews.go.com/Business/wireStory?id=11634584

I think we will see a combination of desktop, cloud and smart devices
long into the future. They all have their place. I actually use all
three regularly.

My favorite? Ubuntu!
