I did download the dabo-0.9.9 and installed it from there so that does
not seem to be the problem.
Any other suggestions?
I have spend many hours trying to install it.
I am looking at an alternative to visual basic, so reading about dabo it
seems that would do the job.
Any other suggestions?

What version of Dabo did you download and from where did you download it? We
renamed
__version__.py to version.py in 0.9.6, and the current version is 0.9.9. 0.9.5
had it
incorrect due to an oversight.
So, please make sure you are installing 0.9.9 and you should be okay.
