The Twenty-Ninth Week in Ordinary Time

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:
     Ephesians 3:2-12
     Isaiah 12:2-6
     Luke 12:39-48

A reflection on today's Scripture:

>From today's First Reading we hear St. Paul tell us something that is
very important to hear and to comprehend. He tells us that through the
Church, the manifold wisdom of God is known.

This point is important because we need to know where the =source= of
truth and proper direction can be found. We know the Ten Commandments
and that we can basically recite what is obviously right and wrong.
But it seems clear that that distinction has been intentionally
blurred by the power of evil. It is no coincidence that evil is hardly
noticed, dressed up as it is in a disguise of relative "good."

To be able to discern such deception we must have the Light of the
Holy Spirit and the wisdom that comes from God. This Light and Wisdom
has been entrusted to the Church, who in God's mighty name, guides
people in the way of truth and righteousness.

As the time draws closer for many of us in the USA to cast a deciding
vote for our governmental leaders, may we rely not on our own wisdom
which might be subject to deception, but rather upon the manifold
Wisdom of God given to His one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
