A Reflection on Today's Scripture:
History has a way of repeating itself. Could we ever imagine anything
worse happening then Herod's slaughter of all the little boys under
the age of two years? Well, it has happened in our generation and
continues to happen as we write this: the massacre of those without a
voice in the womb of their Mothers. We can talk about darkness, but
the darkness that has invaded the thinking of those who choose
abortion seems to be all enveloping!
Jesus came as the Light of the World to bring His light and life to
all. He is the giver of life, the Creator. He is also the only one
who can take back that life. Today's mentality seems to believe that
creation is in the hands of two people: a man and a woman. And if
that life comes at the "wrong" time, it is their decision to end it!
God help us! Where have we come to? Taking the precious gift of life
into our own hands to do with it as we wish.
Almighty God, Creator, Lord of Life. Teach us again about the
precious gift that life is. Teach us to reverence life from the
moment of conception until you call us home. Teach us again that all
life is to be revered in the same way as we care for ourselves. Thank
you Lord, shine your light upon us. Amen!
