A Reflection on Today's Scripture:
In today's gospel Jesus is being closely scrutinized by the
Pharisees, who are looking to find some fault in Him. It is a theme
that we will see many times in the life of Jesus and indeed in the
life of anyone who tries to imitate Christ.
The lesson for us is twofold: first, not to be surprised that
goodness is called into question; and secondly, that doing the "right
thing" even if it means criticism and perhaps rejection is what a
follower of Christ must do.
How blessed we are that Our Savior was not just divine, but human and
encountered the same kind of dilemmas as have we.
By examining His response, we learn what we, as His followers must
do.
When we encounter similar trials, may we remember the words and
wisdom of Holy Scripture which revealed Jesus to us: the Way, the
Truth, the Life. May God grant us the grace to make His way, our way.
