I fully agree. The exact significance of public domain depends on the
country you're in, while the meaning of the three-clause BSD and MIT/X11
licenses is fairly uniform in all signatories of the Berne convention.
Hence, three-clause BSD or MIT/X11 is preferable to public domain
whenever a copyleft license is not required.
(Please do *not* use the four-clause BSD license.)
